Our Mission,
Our Passion,
Our Drive.
The Maui Historical Society’s Mission is to maintain and preserve the Historical Bailey House Museum as it was placed on the National and Hawai’i Registers of Historic Places in 1972.
Our Passion, as the caretakers of the former royal compound of King Kahekili II, is an important part of our kuleana to the property and place seeped in our Hawaiian and Missionary Roots.
Our Drive remains strong and committed to upholding our Hawaiian Heritage, Maui Nui History and cultural values through community (malihini and kamaaiana) engagement, education and collaborative partnerships with Maui Nui including The Valley Isle, Moloka’i, Lana’i and Kaho’olawe.
When you visit Hale Hōʻikeʻike our volunteers and staff will share the influence of missionaries and our Hawaiian History dating back to the 1800s and may include any of the following as part of the tour:
A sampling of our over 2,000 artifacts collection
